Job summary

BrickRed Systems in Seattle, WA is seeking a Java Developer to design, develop, test, and deploy scalable software using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.

You will build RESTful and gRPC APIs, work with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java 11+.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot / Spring Framework.
• Strong experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Solid understanding of SQL and relational database design.
• Hands-on experience using JPA/Hibernate.
• Experience with JUnit and Mockito or similar testing frameworks.
• Working knowledge of Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Practical experience using AI coding assistants in a real-world software development environment.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java applications and Spring Boot microservices.
• Build and consume RESTful and gRPC APIs.
• Develop clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following SOLID principles and engineering standards.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.
• Integrate distributed messaging platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, design sessions, and sprint planning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including performance tuning and root cause analysis.
• Contribute to HLD, LLD, solution architecture, and application/component design.
• Evaluate technical options and reuse, enhance, or reconfigure existing components where appropriate.
• Apply proven design patterns and engineering best practices to improve scalability, maintainability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with architects and development teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
