Job summary

Compunnel, Inc. is seeking an experienced JAVA/J2EE Technical Lead to provide leadership for AMS in a Property & Casualty insurance environment. You will guide production support, maintenance, enhancements, and releases while ensuring stability, performance, security, and SLAs.

The role acts as a liaison between client stakeholders and onsite/offshore teams, leading L2/L3 support, code reviews, mentoring, and driving AI-assisted engineering practices to improve delivery and quality.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software development, application support, or AMS, with proven experience as a Technical Lead or Team Lead.
• Strong hands-on Java/J2EE enterprise development with Spring, REST/SOAP, JPA/Hibernate, JDBC, and Microservices.
• Experience with JBoss/WildFly, Tomcat, and deployments, JVM troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
• Experience with IntelliJ IDEA or Eclipse, Git, Maven/Gradle, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality tools.
• Strong experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server, including SQL development, troubleshooting, data analysis, and performance tuning.
• Proven experience leading L2/L3 production support, incidents, RCA, and end-to-end release management.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced JAVA/J2EE Technical Lead / Team Lead to provide technical, operational, and delivery leadership for Application Management Services (AMS) within a Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance environment. The role will lead production support, application maintenance, defect resolution, enhancements, releases, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring application stability, availability, performance, security, and adherence to agreed SLAs. The Technical Lead will serve as a key liaison between client stakeholders and onsite/offshore delivery teams, leading L2/L3 support operations, prioritizing work, coordinating incident and problem resolution, overseeing enhancements and releases, conducting technical and code reviews, mentoring team members, and driving the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the Technical Lead and primary technical point of contact for AMS, providing technical and delivery leadership across onsite and offshore teams.
• Lead Java/J2EE application development, maintenance, enhancements, integrations, and modernization while ensuring adherence to architecture, security, coding, and engineering standards.
• Lead and coordinate L2/L3 production support, ensuring timely resolution of incidents, service requests, defects, and production issues in accordance with agreed SLAs.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), lead Major Incident resolution, and implement preventive measures to improve application stability and reliability.
• Provide technical leadership for applications running on JBoss/WildFly, Apache Tomcat, and similar Java/J2EE application servers, including deployment, configuration, JVM, and performance troubleshooting.
• Oversee the complete development lifecycle, including technical design, development, code reviews, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Lead enterprise integrations using REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, middleware, JSON/XML, and related integration technologies.
• Manage end-to-end application releases across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments in coordination with development, QA, infrastructure, DevOps, release management, and business teams.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, work prioritization, and guidance to onsite and offshore teams while driving knowledge sharing and cross-training.
• Act as a key liaison with business stakeholders, Product Owners, architects, QA, infrastructure, DevOps, and delivery leadership regarding delivery status, risks, incidents, releases, and priorities.
• Drive responsible adoption of AI-assisted development tools and Generative AI for code generation, code review, refactoring, unit testing, debugging, documentation, and developer productivity while following enterprise security and AI governance policies.
• Drive continuous improvement and automation across application development and production support to improve reliability, engineering quality, support efficiency, and delivery productivity.
• Develop hands‑on expertise in the OneShield Policy Administration System (PAS) to support production issues, application enhancements, integrations, and ongoing development activities.

Required Qualifications

• Experience with IntelliJ IDEA or Eclipse, Git, Maven/Gradle, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality tools.
• Strong experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server, including SQL development, troubleshooting, data analysis, and performance tuning.
• Proven experience leading L2/L3 production support, application maintenance, enhancements, incident and problem management, RCA, and end-to-end release management across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and Generative AI for coding, code reviews, testing, debugging, documentation, and developer productivity, with an understanding of secure and responsible AI usage.
• Strong understanding of Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance business processes and policy lifecycle, including New Business, Renewals, Endorsements, Rewrites, and Cancellations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor onsite/offshore technical teams, manage priorities and delivery commitments, conduct technical and code reviews, and drive engineering best practices.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading onsite-offshore delivery models for AMS engagements, preferably supporting large-scale enterprise insurance applications.
• Experience with application upgrades, modernization, performance optimization, Azure cloud services, and DevOps automation.
• Strong understanding of AMS operational processes, including SLA/KPI management, production monitoring, Major Incident Management, release governance, and continuous improvement.
• Experience driving AI-assisted development and automation within Java/J2EE teams using enterprise-approved AI tools.
• Experience working directly with business users, Product Owners, senior client stakeholders, architects, and cross-functional technology teams.

• ITIL, Agile, Cloud, Insurance Domain, Java, or other relevant technical certifications are a plus.
