Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA), is seeking a Java Developer II (jr-mid) for a contract assignment with a Financial Services client in New York, NY. Onsite 4 days per week. Visa/work authorization restrictions apply.

The role involves designing and implementing Java applications on the WebSphere stack, integrating with existing components, and ensuring security and performance. Collaboration across teams and adherence to development life cycle are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree and 2–4 years of experience.
• Relevant work experience in Java/J2EE distributed application development.
• Experience with various J2EE components and services.
• Working experience with JAVA, J2EE, JavaScript, JDBC, HTML.
• 3–5 years with Spring framework and understanding of AOP concepts.
• Strong analysis and design skills and knowledge of OO design patterns.
• General knowledge of open-source frameworks.
• Experience with building fault-tolerant applications.
• Minimum two years with MQ/JMS-based integration applications.
• Understanding of resiliency, security, and performance concepts.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the detailed technical design of applications with the System Architect.
• Develop functions and application components in Java on WebSphere platform.
• Integrate written components with frameworks and other components.
• Make recommendations toward new code or reuse of existing code.
• Develop documentation artifacts.
• Support testing (unit, functional, performance, access controls).
• Design, develop, and implement web-based Java applications to support business requirements.
• Follow lifecycle methodologies, create design documents, and perform coding and testing.
• Resolve technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation.
• Operate with a degree of creativity and latitude to accomplish goals.
