Apex Systems is seeking a skilled Java Developer to design, build, and optimize APIs that power seamless interactions between systems. In this role, you will focus on developing scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs while ensuring their reliability and functionality. Duration: 12+ month contract with the potential to convert full-time

Location: 100% remote, working Eastern Time

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop API specifications for RESTful APIs, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
• Create clear and comprehensive API documentation to support developers in integration and usage.
• Monitor API performance, diagnose issues, and implement optimizations for enhanced functionality.
• Implement security protocols, authentication, and authorization mechanisms to safeguard APIs from unauthorized access.
• Work with API development tools, API gateways, and API management platforms to streamline deployment and operations.
  
  

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience in full stack Java development
• Proficiency in Java and microservices frameworks such as Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of API architectural styles (REST, GraphQL, SOAP).
• Familiarity with common data formats (JSON, XML, YAML).
• Experience with cloud platforms (preferred: Azure Cloud Platform).
• Experience with DevSecOps (preferred: Azure DevSecOps).
• Understanding of database technologies and messaging technologies.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, information systems, etc.
• Hands-on experience in API lifecycle management and API gateway implementation.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve API integration issues efficiently.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
