Senior Java Developer – DScribe / Watcher API Integration
Location: 100% Remote (Only for LATAM-based candidates)
Compensation: Paid in USD
Type: Full-time, Contractor
Our client is looking for a Senior Java Developer with solid experience integrating DScribe and Watcher APIs into enterprise-grade systems.
In this role, you’ll take the technical lead in designing and developing scalable backend solutions to support data governance, observability, and security automation. You'll collaborate closely with engineering, data, and security teams—while also mentoring junior developers and contributing to key architectural decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop Java-based microservices integrating DScribe and Watcher APIs
Lead architecture decisions related to data governance, alerting, and observability
Implement workflows for data classification, policy enforcement, and real-time alerting
Ensure high reliability, performance, and security in API integrations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Data, Security, DevOps) on integration strategies
Mentor and support junior and mid-level developers
Maintain technical documentation and promote knowledge sharing
Required Qualifications:
6+ years of backend development with Java (Java 8+)
Proven experience with DScribe APIs (e.g., metadata extraction, sensitive data detection)
Hands-on experience with Watcher (e.g., Elasticsearch Watcher or similar tools)
Strong understanding of RESTful API development and security best practices
Experience with Spring Boot or Micronaut frameworks
Familiarity with data governance practices (e.g., PII/PHI classification, audit logs)
Experience with distributed systems, Kafka or RabbitMQ, and the ELK stack
Nice to Have:
Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
Background in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, pharma)
Open source or community contributions (e.g., blogs, talks)
