Job summary

IRIS Software, Inc. is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer for an 18-month contract in the Austin/Southlake, TX area. The role is hybrid—onsite three days per week—and focuses on building scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.

Required are 8+ years in Java backend development, RESTful APIs, distributed systems, and strong SQL experience. AI tool proficiency (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, etc.) will be leveraged to boost productivity and code quality.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Java backend development experience.
• Proficiency in Core Java and OO concepts.
• Experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong understanding of distributed backend systems.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL).

Job Description:

• We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Backend Developer with 7 years of hands-on experience building scalable, high-performance backend applications. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Java, modern backend architectures.
• In addition, candidates must demonstrate experience using modern AI-powered developer productivity tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, Amazon Q, or similar AI coding assistants to improve software development efficiency, code quality, problem-solving, and delivery speed.

Required Qualifications
