Job summary

Compunnel, Inc. seeks a senior Java Developer to modernize broker-dealer systems and enterprise platforms. You will build scalable cloud-native apps in Java/Spring, design REST APIs, and lead AI-assisted development to raise productivity across SDLC.

Qualifications

Job Summary

The Java Developer will play a key role in modernizing Broker-Dealer Systems and enterprise technology platforms by developing scalable, cloud-native applications and AI-enabled engineering solutions. The role requires strong expertise in Java, Spring Framework, microservices, cloud technologies, and AI-assisted software development. The ideal candidate will leverage Generative AI tools to improve engineering productivity while contributing to enterprise modernization initiatives in a high-volume, highly available environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain large-scale enterprise applications using Java and Spring Framework.
• Develop cloud-native, microservices-based applications supporting high-volume transactional systems.
• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful web services and enterprise APIs.
• Participate in enterprise application modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy platforms to distributed architectures.
• Develop and deploy AI and machine learning solutions in production environments.
• Utilize Generative AI coding assistants to support implementation, refactoring, unit testing, regression support, code reviews, troubleshooting, scripting, automation, and documentation.
• Apply AI-assisted development practices while maintaining ownership of software quality, correctness, and engineering standards.
• Utilize GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar AI development tools within IDE and CLI workflows.
• Apply agentic workflows, prompt engineering, custom instructions, and spec-driven development to improve software delivery.
• Develop and maintain applications using containers and microservices in cloud environments.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated software deployment processes.
• Develop solutions using cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF).
• Work with databases including MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Aerospike, and SQL databases.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, product teams, and business stakeholders throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, testing, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, design specifications, and implementation documentation.
• Contribute to Agile ceremonies and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and collaborate with engineering teams to establish AI-assisted development best practices.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience developing large-scale enterprise applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Framework.
• Experience developing cloud-native applications and web services supporting high-volume, highly available environments.
• 6+ years of experience with containers and microservices in cloud environments.
• 6+ years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines and continuous delivery practices.
• 2+ years of experience with AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF).
• 2+ years of hands-on experience implementing and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
• Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, or PaLM.
• Demonstrated experience using Generative AI coding assistants throughout the SDLC.
• Practical experience with GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar AI-assisted development tools.
• Working knowledge of agentic workflows, prompt engineering, custom instructions, and spec-driven development.
• 2+ years of experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Aerospike, or similar databases.
• 2+ years of experience supporting enterprise modernization initiatives from legacy platforms to distributed architectures.
• Understanding of Broker-Dealer systems and operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Experience within the Financial Services industry.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD), QA Automation, and quality engineering practices.
• Experience creating architecture diagrams, design documentation, functional specifications, and technical documentation using tools such as Visio.
• Experience researching and documenting production environments, test environments, architecture, and design.
• Experience working within Agile development environments.
• Experience with Atlassian tools, including Jira and Confluence.
