Job summary

EDZ Systems is seeking a backend-focused software engineer to design, develop and implement cloud-native solutions in a serverless AWS environment. The role emphasizes building high-performance, scalable components and integrating with distributed services.

You will participate in Agile teams, contribute to SDLC planning, and ensure production quality while aligning with security and organizational standards. Boston office preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent background or experience
• 3-5 years software engineering experience in a team-based environment
• Demonstrated experience engineering software with cloud-first architectures
• Experience with building and deploying solutions in Cloud
• Experience with Serverless architecture for building software solutions in Cloud
• Experience with CI/CD build tools, and DevOps processes
• Experience developing high performance, high volume, highly available (24/7/365) environments
• Experience with Agile software engineering (Scrum, Kanban, Lean etc)
• Ideally experience working with aws cloud-based platforms in an enterprise environment
• Proficient knowledge of operating systems (Linux, Unix, Windows)
• Proficient knowledge of database development (SQL, Oracle, DB2)
• Ideally, you'll have experience with AWS services, and integrating them into an application
• Experience with leading edge Cloud technologies, such as Kafka, in-memory and NoSQL databases, messaging platforms, memcache etc preferred
• Demonstrates independent thinking and decision-making abilities
• Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication abilities
• Proficient knowledge of cloud security for application development and delivery
• Proficient knowledge of object-oriented programming
• AWS Expertise: Strong experience with AWS services and clou architecture
• Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, or similar)
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Grafana)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement new complex solutions in accordance with organizational Standards
• Develop software solutions (primarily backend) in Cloud
• Provide input into strategic and tactical planning of software solutions and software development lifecycle changes
• Design and build Java application components, and integrate with software components and products that will be high performing, with world class scale and reliability
• Train and consult cross functionally within the organization on troubleshooting/resolving highly complex and/or highly time critical problems
• Collaborate with analysts as part of an integrated Agile team to define user requirements and conduct design review for the development of complex and innovative cloud applications using modern internet-scale technologies and Serverless architecture in Cloud
• Demonstrate skill dexterity; seeking to continuously adapt and employ new technical skills alongside proven staples
• Ensure that the quality of software developed, maintained and enhanced in-house and installed into production is sufficient to prevent the occurrence of catastrophic defects that cause the customer significant problems, missed deadlines, or interruption to the production environment
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures and standards
• Provide primary or backup production support for applications and components, including but not limited to timely resolution to production problems and processing issues
