The State of Ohio – Department of Taxation is seeking a highly experienced Java Architect to support critical application development and production needs for its STARS and OH|Tax platforms. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of hands-on experience with enterprise-level Java applications, particularly in the taxation or finance domains, and must be able to work 100% onsite in Columbus, OH.
Enterprise Java Architecture – Advanced proficiency in JEE, Spring, JSF, and messaging systems.
System Integration – Working on the integration of STARS with OH|Tax systems as part of a multi-phase migration.
Production Support & Technical Debt – Backfilling team gaps, supporting production issues, and addressing infrastructure upgrades.
Agile Delivery & Collaboration – Strong experience with Agile/Scrum methodology, including backlog refinement and team coordination.
Provide production support for PSRM/STARS applications.
Develop integration components for the migration of Release 2 taxes to the OH|Tax platform.
Contribute to the technical design and development of future tax releases.
Collaborate with internal teams to support infrastructure upgrades and resolve technical debt.
Act as a backfill resource to allow in-house teams to focus on OH|Tax-related projects.
