Job summary

Sligo Software Solutions seeks an experienced senior Java/J2EE developer to support the NYS Tax Modernization program on-site in New York. You will lead development, mentor staff, and contribute to architecture decisions across multiple tax modernization projects.

The role requires extensive Java/J2EE expertise, IBM RAD, WebSphere WAS, and DB2 experience, with a strong focus on delivering automated solutions and rigorous documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 84 months experience with J2EE technologies including EJB, JDBC, JSP and XML.
• 84 months experience with Java programming in an IBM development environment using IDE of IBM's Rational Application Developer (RAD) and deployed to WebSphere Application Server (WAS).
• 84 months experience with IBM DB2 databases and experience with XML schemas (definition, querying and automated generation).
• 60 months experience in performance tuning applications interacting with databases.
• 60 months experience with IBM MQSeries.
• 60 months experience with an organization which includes technical design, development, maintenance and end user support of system.

Responsibilities

• Assist team members using distributed technologies including Java, DB2, XML and XQuery. Ensure staff are trained and mentored.
• Provide support for defects and issue resolution with priority handling.
• Facilitate and participate in meetings with ITS and DTF customers.

Description

This position will be in support of the NYS Tax Modernization Program. This program will encompass multiple projects to modernize legacy systems within the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance, which is responsible for billions in state revenue. Some of the major areas under modernization include:

• Collections and Accounts Receivable
• Taxpayer Accounting
• Withholding Tax Returns Processing

Duties

• Obtain business requirements to develop automated applications which meet business priorities.
• Provide lead programming duties for tax related applications.
• Develop and mentor staff using various technologies including J2EE, Spring, JSON, JavaScript and JDBC.
• Develop and review detailed documentation for system and program change requirements including detail specifications documents.
• Assist and provide guidance through all phases of the project management life cycle.

Mandatory Requirements

• Experience (12+ Years)
• Makes high-level design choices and dictates technical standards, including software coding standards, tools, and platforms. Designs multi-leveled architecture or component interactions of a large-scale software system.

Requirements

• This is an 100% Onsite.
