Job summary

V Group Inc. in Albany, NY is seeking a Software Architect for a 30‑month hybrid role. The successful candidate will lead and mentor teams, drive SDLC activities, and deliver tax modernization software across multiple projects.

Strong J2EE, DB2, and WebSphere experience is required. You will coordinate code migrations, develop unit tests, and develop detailed documentation, while engaging with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business priorities.

Qualifications

• 84 months experience with J2EE technologies including EJB, JDBC, JSP, and XML.
• 84 months experience with Java programming in an IBM development environment using Rational Application Developer (RAD) deployed to WebSphere Application Server (WAS).
• 84 months experience with IBM DB2 databases and XML schemas, including querying and automated generation.
• 60 months experience in performance tuning applications interacting with databases.
• 60 months experience with IBM MQSeries.
• 60 months experience in technical design, development, maintenance, and end-user support of complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Obtain business requirements to develop automated applications that meet business priorities.
• Provide lead programming duties for tax-related applications.
• Develop and mentor staff using J2EE, Spring, JSON, JavaScript, and JDBC technologies.
• Develop and review detailed documentation for system and program change requirements.

Scope of Project: This position will support the NYS Tax Modernization Program, which encompasses multiple projects focused on modernizing legacy systems within the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. The program supports critical state revenue systems including Collections and Accounts Receivable, Taxpayer Accounting, and Withholding Tax Returns Processing.
