Jarraff Operator/Equipment Operator : Beaumont, TX

The Equipment Operator operates heavy equipment of various types to remove branches and tree material from electrical lines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Always follow and help enforce safe practices and rules.
  2. Assist in preparing equipment and materials for each day’s work at Foreperson’s direction.
  3. Operate equipment as directed by Foreperson.
  4. Help maintain and repair equipment and tools used in operations.
  5. Assist other crew members in all aspects of daily activities and take a leadership role when required.
  6. Cleans up and disposes of all debris.
  7. Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc., to protect employees and the public.
  8. Keeps informed on new equipment, specifications, standard practices, operating procedures, and customer and company policies.
  9. Track and report mileage to Foreperson.
  10. Perform duties for storm work as needed.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

At least 1 to 5 years’ prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred; previous experience as a General Foreperson is also preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of daily maintenance and safe operation of all equipment used.
  • Physical strength and good balance to climb into and around mobile equipment.
  • Ability to enter and exit vehicles multiple times a day.
  • Ability to work outdoors under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to hear verbal instructions from a distance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR.
  • Willingness to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Good vision and attentiveness.
  • Valid Driver’s License required; CDL and DOT Medical Card needed for operating trucks over 26,000 lbs.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Balance over uneven terrain.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Endurance to perform duties throughout a standard workday.
  • Willingness to travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed.
