Job summary

Bloom Community Services in Xenia, OH is seeking a reliable janitorial staff member for a 2:00pm–10:00pm shift, with occasional weekend commitments. The role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe facility for consumers and staff, following SDS guidelines and using provided cleaning equipment.

The ideal candidate will be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work independently while adhering to all safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a sanitary, organized, and safe facility for consumers and staff.
• Perform cleaning of classrooms, restrooms, and common areas daily.
• Sweep, mop, clean windows/mirrors, sinks, toilets, countertops, tables, chairs.
• Assist with janitorial supplies inventory and reporting.
• Adhere to safety rules and training.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Monday-Friday 2:00pm - 10:00pm

May include some weekend commitments.

$16.00/hr.

POSITION GOAL/FUNCTION:

Maintains a sanitary, organized, and safe facility for consumers and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

• Timely and consistent attendance.
• Ability to work independently.
• Uses cleaning chemicals and equipment according to SDS and manufacturer’s specifications
• Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing classrooms, restrooms, and shared common areas each day. including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows and mirrors, cleaning sinks and toilets, cleaning countertops, tables, chairs and other used surface areas.
• Assists with maintaining janitorial supplies inventory and reporting to supervisor.
• Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Performs related duties as required. Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties, which may be performed.

Requirements

Any combination of education and experience.

Vision/Hearing: Able to see flashing warning lights and/or hear warning bells or whistles; able to hear or read instructions given in English

Flexibility: Able to bend to lift or pick up items from the floor; able to lift items from large containers for further processing; able to twist from side to side to retrieve linens; able to reach for air hose and squeeze handle to release air for cleaning purpose

Standing/Walking: Able to stand in one place on a hard surface floor for periods of time up to three hours; able to walk long distances

Lifting/Pushing/Pulling: Able to lift up to 50 pounds; able to push carts weighing up to 500 pounds, requiring 35 pounds of force to get started and 10 pounds of force to keep moving.

Ability to understand and follow all safety rules and regulations and complete necessary training for this position

Balance/Control: Able to maintain balance while pushing or pulling a cart weighing up to 500 pounds.

QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSE(S) REQUIRED:

Work requires ability to understand and follow instructions given in English generally acquired through a partial high school education.

EQUIPMENT USED:

May be required to be trained in the use of equipment for janitorial and maintenance tasks, including but not limited to auto scrubbers, mops and buckets, spray bottles, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working conditions may exist that are not such as normally exist in an office environment. These conditions may include exposure to bloodborne pathogens, communicable diseases, potentially infectious material, potentially hazardous materials, and/or aggressive behavior.

May also be subject to extreme cold or heat.
