Job Summary

Hours: Monday‑Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm
Pay: $17.70
Location: 46 E Ohio St, Indianapolis, IN 46204

The Janitorial Team Leader keeps the premises of the office building or other commercial or institutional buildings in a clean and orderly condition while overseeing the work of an assigned team of 4‑7 janitors. The leader organizes the team’s daily tasks, including cleaning office areas, courtrooms, hallways, lobbies, breakrooms/cafeterias, restrooms, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other assigned work areas. The leader performs daily inspections of the entire work area and corrects any deficiencies, communicates effectively with site supervision, the customer, and maintenance, and coaches employees on skills and janitorial tasks.

Responsibilities

• Clean and polish lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim
• Clean and disinfect furniture and equipment
• Polish metalwork and wipe down walls, ceilings, and woodwork
• Wash windows, door panels, and sills
• Empty and clean wastebaskets and ashtrays
• Transport trash and waste to the disposal area
• Replenish bathroom supplies
• Communicate with Goodwill management and customers as needed
• Transport small equipment or tools between departments
• Set up tables and chairs in auditoriums or halls
• Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies

Required Competencies

Preferred Competencies

• Floor Cleaning Equipment Expertise – Operates riding and walk‑behind scrubbers and other floor care equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift or move up to 25pounds.
• Must manage frequent exposure to dust, dirt, debris, and particles in the air.
• Regular exposure to slippery floors and moving mechanical parts of floor cleaning equipment.
• Noise level is generally low.
• Visual Acuity – Requires close and distance vision abilities and focus adjustment.
