This role combines daily custodial work with employee training, scheduling, quality oversight, supply coordination, and performance management.

Our work is guided by three core values: Devoted, Supportive, and Positive. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, organized, and comfortable leading by example.

What You’ll Do:
  • Supervise, engage, coach, and provide feedback to custodians and custodial assistants.
  • Plan work, develop schedules, assign duties, and ensure coverage for all shifts and scheduled time off. Typical schedule will be Monday through Friday 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM although this schedule will change as needed to ensure coverage.
  • Coordinate supplies and equipment needed at all Hillcroft and contracted cleaning locations.
  • Train employees in cleaning techniques, chemical use, SDS information, and applicable hazardous-material safety standards.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with contract staff, agency employees, clients, and the public.
  • Perform and oversee routine and deep-cleaning duties, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, polishing, disinfecting, laundry, and stain removal.
  • Support seasonal and incidental tasks such as sweeping walks, raking leaves, mowing grass, and removing snow.
  • Work independently or alongside teams and supervise clients performing cleaning duties when required.
  • Assist with enhanced facility cleaning during cold, flu, pandemic, or other high-need periods.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
  • At least two years of direct custodial experience preferred.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience and the ability to train, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, solve problems, and improve processes.
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets and follow required safety precautions.
  • Professional communication, dependable follow-through, and a positive, role‑model approach.
Physical and Work Requirements
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, occasionally lift heavier items, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders and regularly push, pull, bend, stoop, crawl, walk, reach, and kneel as the work environment requires.
  • Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment and move furniture, cabinets, boxes, crates, and equipment to access cleaning areas.
  • Ability to travel between Hillcroft facilities and local contract sites using a personal vehicle.
  • Dependable transportation, a valid Indiana driver’s license, an insurable driving record, and proof of state‑required liability insurance.
