Job summary

Rhoads Industries, based at The Navy Yard in Philadelphia, is hiring a Janitorial Laborer to support clean and safe operations in a fast-paced environment. You will perform a variety of custodial tasks across offices, restrooms, and shop areas, maintaining organized, sanitary spaces and following safety protocols.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent, US citizenship, pass a background check, and demonstrate strong time management, communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
• Clean the interior of buildings in designated areas including restrooms, locker rooms, offices, lobbies and kitchens.
• Clean around machinery and shop floor areas.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, mops and other custodial tools.
• Follow facility cleanliness standards and document completed work.
• Maintain a thorough inventory of cleaning supplies and stock supply rooms.
• Notify management of deficiencies, unsafe conditions, or needs for repairs.
• Disinfect high-touch surfaces and shared spaces.
• Report hazards or spills per protocol and assist with waste segregation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

We are currently looking for a Janitorial Laborer to join our dynamic, fast-paced, and growing team. This role involves a variety of tasks to support our operations, including collecting trash, recycling, and cleaning surfaces in heavily used areas. The ideal candidate will have the ability to maintain clean and organized work areas.

As a Janitorial Laborer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment by following safety protocols. This position requires a high level of physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

What You Will Be Doing

• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Clean the interior of buildings in designated area that include restroom/locker rooms, large and small office rooms, lobbies, kitchens.
• Cleaning around machinery and cleaning of shop floor
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, mops, and other custodial tools safely and effectively.
• Follow facility cleanliness standards
• Accurately document completed work and report issues, safety concerns, or supply needs to supervision in a timely manner.
• Maintaining a thorough inventory of cleaning supplies.
• Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs as well as unsafe conditions.
• Disinfect high touch surfaces and shared spaces.
• Empty trash and recycling bins.
• Sort and dispose or segregate waste streams, report and suspected hazardous materials.
• Safely handle, store, and use cleaning chemicals in accordance with Safety Data Sheets and company procedures.
• Respond to minor spill and report hazardous conditions per protocol.
• Stock and maintain supply rooms.
• Knowledge of and following all health and safety regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Work Environment at Rhoads

• The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and lift heavy objects 50 lbs. plus.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
