Rhoads Industries, Inc. is seeking a Janitorial Laborer to join our fast-paced team at The Navy Yard in Philadelphia. The role involves cleaning surfaces, collecting trash, and maintaining sanitary work areas to support operations.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Clean the interior of buildings in designated areas including restrooms, offices, lobbies, kitchens.
• Cleaning around machinery and cleaning of shop floor.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, mops, and other custodial tools safely and effectively.
• Follow facility cleanliness standards.
• Accurately document completed work and report issues, safety concerns, or supply needs to supervision in a timely manner.
• Maintaining a thorough inventory of cleaning supplies.
• Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs as well as unsafe conditions.
• Disinfect high touch surfaces and shared spaces.
• Empty trash and recycling bins.
• Sort and dispose or segregate waste streams, report and suspected hazardous materials.
• Safely handle, store, and use cleaning chemicals in accordance with Safety Data Sheets and company procedures.
• Respond to minor spill and report hazardous conditions per protocol.
• Stock and maintain supply rooms.
• Knowledge of and following all health and safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position requires a high level of physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

What You Will Be Doing

The Work Environment at Rhoads

• The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and lift heavy objects 50 lbs. plus.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
