Janitorial Area Supervisor - Broward County (Operations)
We are seeking a dedicated, client-focused, and passionate Supervisor to lead, supervise, and coordinate activities of a team of Cleaning Specialists engaged in cleaning and maintaining diverse facilities. You will work under the direction of the Area Manager for the Broward Division.
Major Responsibilities:
- Report to the Area Manager, obtain job assignments each evening, and report any issues from the previous work night.
- Perform daily routine inspections, ensure immediate corrections, and maintain high-quality standards across all accounts.
- Provide initial and ongoing job site training to cleaning specialists, assigning specific duties based on site requirements.
- Work alongside cleaning specialists when needed and cover for absences.
- Deliver supplies to small accounts on occasion.
- Inspect cleaning equipment and supplies during account inspections.
- Ensure service completion in each supervised account.
- Make recommendations and provide written reports on issues like workmanship, attendance, appearance, etc., to Area Managers.
- Communicate professionally, providing detailed information and responding promptly to problems or suggestions.
- Enhance service quality through hiring, training, cross-training, and development of cleaning specialists.
- Ensure compliance with contract specifications.
- Maintain inventory of supplies per account.
- Assist in managing equipment and repair budgets.
- Review timesheets and monitor exception reports daily.
- Coordinate special projects with the Area Manager.
- Ensure all employees complete orientation and training before starting work.
- Assist in hiring, terminating, and transferring employees.
- Complete all paperwork promptly and respond swiftly to company requests.
- Work with HR regarding employee issues.
- Promote a safe work environment, hold safety meetings, and document them.
- Ensure employees wear uniforms, ID badges, and safety gear as required, following safety guidelines.
- Inspect and maintain equipment, janitor closets, and chemical labeling.
- Report safety issues to risk management.
- Prepare accounts for inspections and keep management informed.
- Support the management team at Total Cleaning and perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of janitorial supervision experience.
- Bi-lingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
- Flexible schedule including nights, days, weekends, and on-call availability.
- Computer skills are advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong problem-solving, follow-up, and judgment skills.
- Attention to detail and results-oriented approach.
