Job Summary:

The Maintenance/Janitor (Unskilled) position is responsible for performing janitorial and maintenance duties within the Oakland Arena-Alameda County Coliseum.

Starting at $20.50 per hour.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Perform routine maintenance duties such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, sinks, countertops, refrigerators, and interior windowsills/windows.
2. Empty trash cans, replace liners, clean receptacles, and recycle as instructed. Use industrial chemicals and equipment to clean various surfaces.
3. Complete all assigned tasks within the allotted time and to a satisfactory standard. Notify leads or supervisors of any neglected cleaning tasks.
4. Ensure all work areas are left clean and orderly.
5. Adhere to AEG policies, procedures, and sustainability initiatives.
6. Maintain compliance with ASM/OCJV/CalOSHA safety policies and procedures.
7. Work irregular extended hours, including nights (graveyard shifts), weekends, and holidays.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

The Janitor (Skilled) may also:

1. Operate tractors (tuggers), trucks, street sweepers, and floor scrubbers safely.
2. Perform maintenance equipment checks and report damages.

Bin Yard Crew:

• Push and pull full 3-yard containers over uneven surfaces.
• Hoist 40-60 pounds from ground to 7 feet.
• Sort cardboard and compost from trash.
• Report contaminated recycle streams.
• Operate a 20-yard compactor per manufacturer's instructions.
• Maintain bin yard cleanliness.
• Communicate with equipment operators about full containers.

Window Washer:

• Use all window-cleaning techniques and equipment expertise.
• Work with a 40-foot tucker pole up to 8 hours daily.
• Restore calcium-etched windows using power equipment and chemicals.
• Operate hydraulic lifts up to 80 feet and set up scaffolding.

Painting & Repair Duties:

• Perform painting, drywall repair, mudding, and texturing.

Carpet Cleaner:

• Operate carpet extractors and use appropriate cleaning chemicals.
• Handle water damage and restoration.

Floor Waxer:

• Use floor stripping and waxing chemicals properly.
• Operate buffers and scrubbers without damage.
• Re-set rooms after cleaning tasks.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning products and techniques or willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and lift up to 100 pounds.
• Physical ability for heavy lifting, climbing, and equipment operation.
• Work indoors and outdoors under various conditions.

Certifications:

• Valid California Driver's License (required for Equipment Operator).
• Forklift certification (required for Equipment Operator).
