Job summary

Denali Universal Services (DUS) seeks dependable Janitors to maintain clean and sanitary common areas, offices, living quarters and kitchens at a remote North Slope Alaska camp.

You will perform floor-care tasks, trash handling, light maintenance, snow removal and transport between Anchorage and the site, with a 3 weeks on/3 weeks off rotation.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork and the ability to work long shifts in a fast-paced environment while living in shared housing with meals provided.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Able to speak, read, understand and write English.
• Smartphone access for scheduling and timekeeping apps.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Meet criminal history/background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean and sanitary common areas, offices, living quarters, kitchens and restrooms.
• Perform full floor-care tasks (sweep, mop, scrub, wax, buff, extract).
• Remove, transport and compact trash; replace light bulbs as needed.
• Keep entryways free of snow and debris; perform light maintenance.
• Operate a vehicle between Anchorage and the remote job site.
• Adhere to safety procedures and wear PPE.

Job description

We are seeking dependable and detail-orientated Janitors to support daily operations at a remote camp on the North Slope of Alaska. The role is responsible for maintaining clean and sanitary common areas, offices, living quarters, kitchens, restrooms, and common areas; performing full floor‑care tasks; removing and compacting trash; completing light maintenance such as changing bulbs; and keeping entryways clear of snow and debris. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, and comfortable working long hours in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

• Rotational Schedule: 3 weeks on/3 weeks off
• Work shifts: 12 hours/day (40 hrs straight time + 44 hrs OT per work week).
• Travel: Flights between Anchorage and the job site are arranged and paid for by the company

JOB DUTIES

• Clean hallways, stairways, offices, food preparation and break areas, kitchen areas and equipment, laundry rooms, living areas, work areas, off-site areas, common areas, restrooms, public areas, and other similar areas
• Dust both low and high areas and wipe down/clean various surfaces
• Sweep, mop, scrubs, strip, extract, wax, buff, vacuum, etc. all types of floors
• Removes and transports and compacts trash to the appropriate disposal areas
• Change light bulbs and perform light facility maintenance
• Keep building entryways free of snow and debris
• Operate a vehicle to work at remote locations
• Follow proper DUS safety precautions and wear the correct PPE for the task
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner
• Willingness to perform other duties as required
• Willingness to work at various locations as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Able to proficiently speak, read, understand and write English
• Reliable access to a smartphone capable of running apps for scheduling, timekeeping (clocking in/out), shift communications, and time-off requests
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical requirements
• Must meet criminal history and background requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS

• Work is performed indoors in a remote camp setting
• Ability to remain on your feet for long shifts and perform repetitive physical tasks, including walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting.
• Must be comfortable living and working in a remote location with shared housing accommodations and communal facilities
• Teamwork, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential
• Strict adherence to safety, work procedures, and conduct standards
