Challenge Unlimited, Inc. is hiring a Full-Time Janitor at the Scott Air Force Base Commissary in Illinois. The role focuses on cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking facilities while adhering to safety and quality standards.

The shift runs Tuesday through Saturday from 7:00 pm until finish, with a starting pay rate of $17.75 per hour and veteran-friendly consideration. Responsibilities include cleaning bathrooms, floors, and common areas; operating basic janitorial equipment; and supporting team

• Past work experience in any field; warehouse experience helpful and requires attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Janitorial duties at Scott Air Force Base Commissary.
• Clean, sanitize and restock bathrooms; clean sinks, toilets, mirrors, and stainless areas.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop floors and stairs; empty trash and replace liners.
• Clean aisles; dust and wipe surfaces; handle window cleaning as needed.
• Maintain office areas; clean desks and furniture; ensure safe operation of equipment.
• Support teamwork and assist co-workers; prioritize safety, quality, and customer service.

Typical Job Duties:

• Responsible for janitorial duties at Scott Air Force Base Commissary
• clean, sanitize and restock bathrooms including sinks, toilets, glass and mirrors, stall walls, stainless steel areas.
• . Vacuum, sweep, mop floors and stairs.
• Empty trash and various recyclable cans and replace liners, clean receptacles, as necessary.
• May be assigned to clean aisles including sweeping, dusting, wiping, and removing trash
• Dust and clean office areas, desks and furniture that are not cluttered. Clean windowsills and windows. Obtain tools necessary for the job to be completed.
• Clean break rooms and other areas that are applicable to the contract
• Expected to safely operate equipment
• Contributes to teamwork by training and helping co-workers
• Continually performs duties with a special focus on safety, quality and customer service.
• Performs janitorial duties, specializing in floor care.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
2. High School diploma or G.E.D. (Proof of ed is not required)
3. Past work experience in any field. Previous experience in inventory, shipping & handling, or warehouse helpful. Requires attention to detail and data entry skills.
4. Must pass criminal background check. Must pass various State and Federal registry checks. Must pass DCFS Abuse and Neglect Tracking System check.

PHYSICAL DEMAND:

Occasionally sitting in the normal course of office-sedentary type work.

Continually standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and twisting in the stocking, organizing, dusting, cleaning, sweeping, moping, vacuuming, removing trash and performing other related stocking duties.

Occasionally listens and speaks with managers and employees to collect and offer information about work assignments, progress, requests, and help needed

Continually visually alert to monitor the area where work is performed, the stocking equipment, and other workers’ actions to maintain safety and complete service duties. Reads information, often in small print. Visually locates labels or other objects.

Continually using hands in writing, filing, stocking, organizing, arranging, cleaning, grasping, lifting, carrying, wiping, squeezing, and balancing.

Continually bending, reaching, and twisting; occasionally climbing stairs and/or ladders squatting, and kneeling.

Frequently lifting, carrying, and pushing or pulling up to 75 lbs. of product cases, mop bucket filled with water, trash barrels, etc. Assists in team lifting as needed
