Job summary

Bolthouse Fresh Foods in Bakersfield, CA seeks a Janitor - Buildings & Grounds for the 1st shift. This full-time role reports to the Supervisor and is non-exempt, with a pay range of $16.90–$17.50 per hour.

Your duties include cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining office areas, following safety and GMP standards, stocking supplies, and assisting with minor repairs as needed. Early morning shift, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• Must have High School/GED or six months to one year experience in related field or combination of education and experience
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Must complete safety and food awareness training.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize, and neaten common and office areas according to schedules and GMP/ safety standards.
• Perform safety checks on equipment and ensure devices function properly.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors; clean walls, ceilings, fixtures and windows.
• Restroom cleaning, restocking supplies, and waste disposal.
• Assist with minor painting, plumbing, electrical and general maintenance.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE

The Primary function of this position is to clean, sanitize, and neaten common and office assigned areas of the facility, in a timely manner, according to a set of schedules and in emergency and non-emergency situations. Observing all safety regulations and ensure al GMP and quality standards are met and maintained.

• Obtain work schedule and daily production paperwork and prepare for operations
• Perform a safety check on equipment to be used in the daily operations and ensure that all safety devices are functioning properly
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors of common areas of buildings, using cleaning solutions, tools and equipment
• Clean or polish walls, ceilings, windows, equipment, and building fixtures, using steam cleaning equipment, scrapers, brooms and variety of hand and power tools as required
• Clean restrooms, fixtures, stalls, floors, and walls using solvents, brushes, rags, and power cleaning equipment
• Re-fill paper towel dispenser, replace tissue rolls, fill liquid soap dispenser, and air fresheners
• Clean and vacuum office area floors, dust furniture, water plants, clean coffee area and replace light bulbs as required
• Gather and empty trash from all office and common areas and place in proper receptacle
• Performs minor routine painting, plumbing, electrical, maintenance and related activities
• Dusts furniture, walls, machines, and equipment
• Mixes water and detergents or acids in container to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
• Requisition supplies and equipment used in cleaning and maintenance duties and store in proper area
• Notify management personnel concerning need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
• Sets-up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, etc. for events, meetings and social functions
• Move items between departments, manually or using hand-truck or carts
• At end of shift, secure all equipment, complete all required paperwork, and perform general housekeeping and clean-up as required
• Performs other duties as assigned

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledgeable in basic math skills
• Able to use the equipment and tools available to safely perform the job in all assigned areas of the facility
• Have a good understanding of basic chemical interactions and common precautionary procedures and actions
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Must be able to drive a golf cart.
• Must complete all safety and food awareness training.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have High School/GED or six months to one year experience in related field or combination of both education and experience
• Candidates must have a verifiable history of safe vehicle operation and meet company standards for driving eligibility. This includesmaintaininga clean driving record, which will be verified through a background check

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous janitorial and sanitation work experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Material exposure – moving mechanical parts
• Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry between 50 to 55 lbs.
• Ability to stand forlong periodsof time in an upright position walking on both even and uneven surfaces
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, using 3-point contact on a regular basis
• Ability to stoop, crouch, and kneel on a regular basis
• Ability to use hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, and handle objects in one position for an extendedperiod.

HOURS & WORKDAYS:

Shift -1 - 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM; Monday through Friday, Weekends and holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotation workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs.
