Job summary

The Salvation Army in Wichita is seeking a diligent janitorial worker to maintain the property, offices, and grounds in a safe, clean, and orderly condition. You will sweep, mop, vacuum, handle trash, and assist with furniture setup and seasonal tasks as needed.

The role requires standing and walking for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in both office and outdoor environments. A High School diploma or GED is preferred, with experience in janitorial work a plus.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: Janitorial and maintenance experience preferred but not required.
• Certifications / Licenses: None.
• Skills / Abilities: Use of basic hand tools; detail oriented; ability to organize and carry out work with minimal supervision; ability to work with different socioeconomic groups.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub and vacuum hallways, stairs, restrooms and office space.
• Empty all trash and break down cardboard.
• Inspect and notify management concerning needs for major repairs, safety or security issues.
• Advise direct supervisor of janitorial and building supply needs.
• Remove litter and cultivate flowers as assigned.
• Follow schedule for cleaning windows, furniture, and floors polishing.
• Set up furniture for meetings as required.
• Assist with unloading and put away of any donations received.
• Assist with seasonal activities and assistance.
