Job summary

The Shade Store in Florida is seeking a dedicated Janitor to maintain clean, safe facilities for our production and showroom environment. This role performs general upkeep, basic repairs, and supports ongoing facility operations under moderate supervision.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of general work experience, reads technical manuals, can lift up to 25 pounds, and is comfortable with English; Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• English language skills are required; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
• 2+ years of general work experience.
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience using hand and electrical tools.
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
• Ability to work flexible and/or extended hours including Saturdays.
• Able to lift up to 25 pounds (team-lift 50+ lbs).

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains buildings, facilities, and equipment.
• Uses cleaning tools and other products to create a clean, healthy environment.
• Removes and disposes trash, recycling, and other waste following the appropriate policies.
• Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls.
• Install appliances and equipment.
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g., ventilation).
• Report to a facilities or maintenance manager for issues.
• Provide training to other technicians in various disciplines as needed.
• Actively contribute to ongoing continuous improvement efforts and projects.

THE POSITION: Janitor

The Janitor performs general facility upkeep, including basic repairs, and helps ensure the building, equipment, and systems remain clean, safe, and functional. Responsibilities include applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems and maintaining tidy, well-functioning facilities. This role works under moderate supervision and typically requires at least one year of related experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cleans and maintains buildings, facilities, and equipment.
• Uses cleaning tools and other products to create a clean, healthy environment.
• Removes and disposes trash, recycling, and other waste following the appropriate policies.
• Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
• Install appliances and equipment.
• Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs.
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g., ventilation).
• Check functionality of safety systems (e.g., fire alarm).
• Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations.
• Report to a facilities or maintenance manager for issues.
• Report defective materials or questionable conditions immediately. Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
• Provide training to other technicians in various disciplines as needed.
• Train subordinate employees on job skills and Company policies and procedures.
• Actively contribute to ongoing continuous improvement efforts and projects.
• Communicate constantly with supervisor regarding issues that may come up at work.
• Communicates any problems which arise to the supervisor.
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Ability to climb and move around machinery.
• Ability to work at heights.
• Able to lift up to 25 pounds. May team-lift 50+ lbs. Work in a safe manner especially when lifting.
• Must be honest, have a positive attitude, be respectful, dependable, have a good attitude and a proven record of reliability (2+ years at previous jobs). Ability to understand written work direction.
• Requires 2+ years of general work experience.
