Job summary

Merchants Building Maintenance Company is seeking a dedicated janitor to maintain clean, sanitary, and safe client sites in Daly City, CA. You will perform routine cleaning, restroom maintenance, waste removal, and ensure all areas meet company and client standards.

Travel is required; third shift is available. Benefits include paid holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid vacation and sick days. Reports to the supervisor/area manager.

Qualifications

• Experience with routine cleaning and restroom maintenance.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and client guidelines.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• General cleaning duties: sweep, mop, vacuum floors, dust surfaces and fixtures.
• Restroom maintenance: clean/sanitize toilets and counters, replenish supplies.
• Trash & waste removal: collect, empty trash, replace liners, recycle appropriately.
• Breakroom/common areas: clean tables and appliances, maintain order.
• Safety & compliance: follow safety rules and report hazards promptly.
• Quality standards: meet scope of work and client expectations on inspection.
• Performance: be reliable, punctual, and professional on client sites.

Job Details

The janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly environment. This includes routine cleaning, waste removal, and ensuring all assigned areas meet company and client standards.

General Cleaning Duties

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors
• Dust and wipe down surfaces, furniture, and fixtures
• Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.

Restroom Maintenance

• Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, and counters.
• Refill supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper)
• Empty trash and maintain odor control.

Trash & Waste Removal

• Collect and dispose of trash from all designated areas
• Replace liners in trash receptacles
• Handle recycling according to guidelines.

Breakroom / Common Areas

• Clean tables, countertops, and appliances (microwave, refrigerator, sink)
• Maintain cleanliness and organization.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company safety procedures and client guidelines.
• Use cleaning chemicals properly and safely.
• Report hazards, damages, or maintenance issues promptly.
• Reports to: Supervisor / Area Manager
• May be required to submit reports or photos of completed work.

Quality Standards

• Complete all assigned tasks per scope of work
• Maintain consistency and attention to detail
• Ensure all areas meet client expectations and inspection standards.
