Job description


Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates superior knowledge and practice in the first scrub role.
  • Understands supply costs and works independently with the team to ensure quality of care while considering cost containment.
  • Demonstrates superior knowledge of varied surgical equipment and advanced surgical instrumentation. Ensures appropriate equipment and supplies are available for each procedure.
  • Assists in communication with Biomedical Services regarding the status of equipment needing repair or maintenance.
  • Educates staff in the care of instrumentation and equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Licensure:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) required as of September 1, 2010, or 'grandfathered' employees, or LVN.
  • BCLS certification may be required in some locations.

Minimum Experience:

  • Two (2) years of experience.
  • Ability to work in at least three different specialty areas.

Position Summary

Possesses superior knowledge of surgical equipment and advanced instrumentation across at least three specialties; develops, organizes, and delivers continuing education as needed by the unit; serves as a liaison to Instrument Techs assigned to the section; ensures equipment is cleaned and maintained as required.
