Job summary

Woodbury County is seeking a Civilian Correctional Officer (Jailer) to oversee inmate welfare and jail security at the Woodbury County Jail. Responsibilities include transportation, paperwork, and supporting radio/dispatcher duties under the Sheriff or Jail Commander.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, 21+, have a high school diploma or GED, pass a background check and fitness tests. Benefit-rich position with IPERS and comprehensive health plans.

Qualifications

• Must be a United States citizen.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Background investigation, including fingerprint checks, required.
• Must pass physical, vision, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Care and safekeeping of prisoners; booking, release, security and order.
• Maintain records within assigned scope of responsibility.
• Coordinate jail maintenance and trustee work while ensuring security.
• Assist with transportation of prisoners and related duties.
• Complete all related paperwork and support dispatcher duties as needed.
