Job summary

Travis County Sheriff is seeking a Security Coordinator to manage jail security operations and inmate processing within a multi-facility detention environment. The role emphasizes maintaining rosters, counts, property records, and rapid response to alarms and incidents.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, up to one year in corrections or security, and citizenship. Training for licensure and certifications is provided as part of the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Up to one year of experience in corrections, security, or computer operations.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• TCIC/NCIC certification within 6 months of employment.
• Jailer's license within 6 months of employment.
• Physical participation is required to obtain a jailer’s license, including defensive tactics training.

Responsibilities

• Operate jail detention security systems and monitor devices.
• Maintain accurate inmate counts and rosters.
• Dispatch officers and coordinate security tasks.
• Process new inmates including booking and fingerprinting.
• Maintain inventory and inmate property records.
• Respond to alarms and coordinate emergency responses.
• Interact with courts and other agencies for detentions.
• Oversee visitor screening and access control.
