Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • At least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Participation in an oral panel interview.
  • No felony convictions unless reversed or pardoned; no related misdemeanor.
  • Dress code to include wearing uniform; no facial hair except as department standards.
  • Prompt and regular attendance.
  • Equivalent education/experience accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain security and safety of the County Jail and inmates.
  • Provide for inmates' needs, including feeding and handling requests.
  • Process admission/release paperwork and enter charges in jail system.
  • Operate Central Control system to monitor access and egress.
  • Guard and care for work program inmates and others as directed.
  • Distribute inmate medication and assist with medical emergencies.
  • Respond to public requests for jail information.
  • Prepare reports and logs related to duties.
  • Assist with inmate clothing exchange and searches.
  • Perform all other assigned duties.
