Qualifications

  • Texas Driver License (in good standing) required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention and resolution for persons in crisis or at high risk for involvement with law enforcement.
  • Serve as a liaison between law enforcement entities and the IDD-CIS team, Service Planning Team and Transition Support Team.
  • Train internal and community partners on jail diversion plan strategies for high-risk individuals.
  • Coordinate referrals and LIDDA IDT recommendations for SSLC admission requests.
  • Provide direction to Team Leads and Service Coordinators for SSLC applications.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal rules and Texana policies.
  • Travel within a 6-county region.
  • Work hours: Mon-Fri, 8-5 with flexibility based on client need.

Salary Range: $24.75 To $27.23 Hourly

The Jail Diversion Coordinator provides direct services to persons with IDD at high risk for involvement with law enforcement, such as persons who exhibit repeated and severe behaviors that jeopardize safety and living arrangement. The Jail Diversion Coordinator serves as a liaison between Texana Center and various community partners within Fort Bend County including Fort Bend County Courts, Behavioral Health Services, Probation, Sheriff’s Department and the Fort Bend County Jail. This position includes rotation of after-hours, on-call crisis coverage, on-call crisis resolution by phone or audio-visual services. The Jail Diversion Coordinator works under the supervision of the Lead Crisis Intervention Specialist. The Jail Diversion Coordinator is responsible for the following:

  • Assisting the Lead Crisis Intervention Specialist with crisis intervention and resolution for persons experiencing a crisis, at risk of requiring crisis services assessment, or at high risk for involvement with law enforcement
  • Serving as a liaison between law enforcement entities and the IDD-CIS team, Service Planning Team and Transition Support Team
  • Training internal partners, community partners, and LIDDA staff on jail diversion plan strategies for people at high risk for involvement with law enforcement
  • Coordinates referrals and LIDDA IDT recommendations for SSLC admission requests
  • Provides direction and support to Team Leads and Service Coordinators for completion of SSLC application
  • Compliance with applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations
  • Adherence to and promotion of the Texana Compliance Policy
  • Travel within a 6-county region
  • Work hours: M-F, 8-5 with flexibility based on client need
  • $24.75 to $27.23/hour commensurate with experience
  • Structured introductory compensation (90% / 95% / 100%)
Required Experience
  • 2 years of experience as a Service Coordinator in IDD services
  • 1 year of experience working with persons dually diagnosed, IDD and mental illness
Required Education, Skills and/or Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in health and human services field
  • Texas Driver License (in good standing)
Preferred Education and/or Certification, Experience, Skills
  • Experience in the criminal justice system
  • Experience with admissions and transitions between community and institutionalization
Job related Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to perform SAMA and CPR. Training is provided to employees once hired
  • Must be able to perform moderate to heavy lifting (15#- 45#), kneeling, pushing, stooping, climbing stairs, walking, standing, and sitting
  • Must have ability to hear (with aid), see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle and depth perception.
  • Qualified individuals must be able to perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
