Job summary

The Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University Bloomington is seeking an experienced administrator to plan, direct, and implement programs and events within the Jacobs Academy. The role involves coordinating budgets, marketing, personnel hiring, space management, and enrollment for music and dance programs, including adult workshops.

You will recruit and mentor faculty and staff, develop community partnerships, manage grant proposals, and monitor compliance with Programs Involving Children.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in music, arts, or arts administration.
  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience.
  • Experience in music/ballet arts administration preferred.

Job description

JACOBS SCHOOL OF MUSIC (BL-MUS-IUBLA)

Department Responsibilities
  • Oversees current music and dance programs and adult workshops, including budget development, marketing, personnel hiring, space management, and enrollment.
  • Develops new and innovative programs to serve expanding needs.
  • Coordinates community engagement activities in Jacobs to work collectively through the Jacobs Academy office.
  • Maintains and develops relationships with program faculty and community partners.
  • Partners with various areas of the Jacobs School to support programs (finance, communications, scheduling, etc).
  • Manages office staff to support programs.
  • Serves as a Jacobs representative in campus and community engagement organizations.
  • Interacts with and supports applicants, participants and their families.
  • Develops business plans and provides data regarding programs to administration.
  • Supports and develops grant applications.
  • Monitors PIC (Programs Involving Children) compliance in Jacobs Academy programs.
General Responsibilities
  • Plans, directs and implements programs or events, including the creation of materials to support these events.
  • Provides staff communications and serves as liaison to program participants, collaborators in other units, community partners, vendors and the public. Approves staff purchase requests; arranges staff travel, accommodations, and research activities.
  • Provides mechanisms, training, and advice on a variety of issues such as budget management software and advanced strategies for timely spending of grant funds. May be responsible for meeting revenue targets.
  • Recruits, trains, directs, schedules, and evaluates faculty and staff partners, students and volunteers. Mentors, serves as a resource and provides guidance to team staff members as needed.
  • Researches available grants and works closely with managers to identify funding needs and potential sources, creates grant proposals that further advance support of the program and program participants. May be responsible for meeting revenue targets.
  • Constructs and administers program budgets and approves spending. Tracks progress on deliverables, analyzes data on projected spending and prepares reports for higher management and funding sources.
  • Keeps abreast of best practices to recommend policies and procedures that deliver a quality program experience.

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in music, arts, or arts administration)
