Job summary

Southland Holdings is seeking a Construction General Laborer for a large heavy civil project in Tampa, FL. Responsibilities include site setup, material handling, and assisting with trenching and roadwork. Strong safety awareness and reliable attendance are required.

Experience in underground utilities or trenchless work is a plus. A valid driver's license and ability to pass DOT testing and background checks are preferred. This is a full-time position with benefits and paid holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience in underground utilities, heavy highway, bridges, dirt work, and/or welding.
• Familiarity with trenchless methods around Tunnel Boring, Guided Boring or Auger Boring systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist in excavation, material handling, and site preparation.
• Operate/assist with heavy equipment and assist loaders/backhoes/skidsteers as directed.
• Follow plans and specs; communicate hazards and job progress to supervisors.
• Maintain safety standards; use PPE; perform routine equipment checks.
• Climb ladders, work in trenches, and perform physical tasks in all weather conditions.

Job description

A Southland Holdings company is currently accepting resumes for Construction General Laborer for our large heavy civil project located in Tampa, FL.

• Construction experience in underground utility, heavy highway, bridges, dirt work, and/or welding, etc
• Trenchless experience working around specialized equipment such as Tunnel Boring, Guided Boring and/or Auger Boring Systems
• Heavy equipment experience preferred, loading/unloading materials, excavating soil, operating and maintaining excavators, backhoes, skidsteers, bucket loaders, and/or forklifts, etc
• Jobsite set up experience interpreting plans and specifications, using surveying equipment to calculate grade and alignment
• Essential duties include climbing ladders into and out of earthen pits/trenches, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting, lifting and climbing, full range of motion and use of arms and legs
• Must work in all weather conditions, be prepared for both extreme hot/cold
• Must be able to work independently, maintain good schedule, available for OT
• Must have basic knowledge of heavy civil construction
• Successful applicants must have a valid driver's license (Class A CDL w/ Tanker Endorsement preferred) and past a DOT physical, drug test and background checks
