A leading manufacturing company is seeking an Assistant Plant Manager in their Houston facility. This role involves assisting in the operations of a machine shop, ensuring safety standards, managing quality assurance, and overseeing equipment maintenance. SUMMARY
Assists the Plant Manager in the daily operation of the machine shop area including all part processing, tooling and tool management, consumables, programming, CNC operations, manual operations, screw machine operations, finishing and debur, part qualification and in process quality acceptance and inspection.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Assists the Plant Manager (Machine Shop) to implement production goals and requirements.
Familiar with programming for CNC equipment, CAD, CAM and other software interfaces, applications and production improvements which could be utilized in the machining operations of the company.
Disciplines and rewards subordinate employees.
Follows company safety guidelines.
Maintains safe and clean work environment.
Oversees all equipment assigned to the machine shop area and its maintenance.
Oversees and manages operations, costs, departmental facility needs and specifies capital equipment needs for the machine shop area.
Oversees quality assurance and improvement in the machine shop area.
Oversees or trains all employees in the machine shop area.
Upkeep and cleanliness of work areas.
Follow company safety & security guidelines
Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
Other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED
Proficiency in required CNC, CAD, CAM or solid geometry software
Experience in programming / debugging CNC programs for equipment types used in his area
General computer skills (Word/Excel)
Experience as a machinist, CNC machine operator, job setups, fixturing and tooling requirements and design
REQUIRED ADDITIONAL TRAINING (to be provided, if necessary)
Global Shop operations: relevant data entry and report functions as appropriate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee may be required to do the following: climbing into and out of equipment; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands, fingers and feet to operate tools and equipment; lifting up to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction. The employee is frequently required to sit while performing the duties of this job (approx. 80%) walk (20%) The employee is expected to lift or move materials (5% of workday)
