Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Perform basic pneumatic and electric actuator valve assembly, including tubing, setting stops, limit switches, positioner setup, solenoid tubing, electric actuator valve assembly, setting torque, and testing.
Positional Requirements & Qualifications
- Education & Experience
- Some prior automated valve assembly experience
- High School Diploma or GED and at least 2 years industry experience
- Skills & Abilities
- Meet all Technician Helper qualifications and requirements outlined in the job description
- Successfully complete Isolation Valve & Automation Technician Level I written and performance tests
- Complete required training outlined in the technician certification program
- Follow all applicable Quality Standardization Procedures
- Learn valve assembly according to company standards
- Demonstrate proficiency in lapping, testing, and applicable codes and standards
- Show mechanical skills, basic mathematical skills, and ability to use measurement equipment
- Be familiar with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and recognize contaminated valves
- Prove proficiency in automated valve assembly testing, codes, and standards
- Understand the importance of air supply pressure and input signals (3-15# and 4-20 mA)
- Possess basic OSHA and TWIC cards (if required)
- Exhibit basic oral and written communication skills
- Communicate professionally with customers and understand the field job process
- Demonstrate a “can do” attitude and excellent customer service skills
- Follow Quality Standardization Procedures during valve assembly and testing
- Recognize missing parts
- Learn valve repair according to company standards
- Begin introductory learning of shop equipment (test stand, machining tools, etc.)
- Work under close supervision
- Travel as needed with a clear driving record according to company guidelines
- Pass background checks and drug/alcohol screenings
Essential Physical Functions
- Lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions
- Lift and carry 50 pounds for 100 feet
- Bend, stoop, walk, and climb stairs or ladders
- Move in various positions to perform tasks in different environments, including tight spaces
- Remain stationary, often standing or sitting for extended periods
- Communicate with others to exchange information
- Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers
- Operate machinery, power tools, and motor vehicles or heavy equipment
- Assess work accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness
- Meet physical requirements mandated by customers or regulations
- Support body weight during offshore rope swings
