PharMerica in Indianapolis, IN is hiring a full-time Pharmacy IV Technician to support sterile compounding for long-term care and senior living clients. The role includes preparing prescriptions, maintaining the sterile environment, and collaborating with pharmacists to ensure quality and compliance.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Pharmacy Technician license as required by state.
  • 6 months–1 year IV Pharmacy Technician experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to operate a computer; recognize and identify medications.
  • Detail oriented; goal oriented; team player; effective oral communication.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain sterile compounding room per USP 797 and state standards.
  • Prepare and fill prescriptions for long-term care residents and high-risk patients.
  • Support QA processes to ensure compliance with compounding/docs requirements.
  • Assist pharmacists with data entry, refill coordination, and communications with facilities.
  • Stage, prepare, and fill medication orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain and calibrate infusion pumps and sterile equipment.
  • Replenish and maintain Emergency Drug Kits for long-term care facilities.
  • Perform shipping and tracking of packages with third-party providers.
  • Assist with inventory, filing, phones, and stocking in the IV department.
  • Collaborate with leads to maintain a safe, compliant work environment.
  • Report operational or compliance concerns related to USP 797.

  • Clean, maintain, and monitor the Sterile Compounding Room in accordance with USP 797 and state regulatory standards. Compound sterile preparations, including those from non-sterile powders, within a Class 100 cleanroom environment.
  • Prepare and fill prescriptions for long-term care residents and high-risk pregnancy patients, following established policies and quality standards.
  • Support quality assurance (QA) processes, ensuring compliance with all compounding and documentation requirements.
  • Assist pharmacists with data entry, refill coordination, and communication with nursing homes and clients.
  • Stage, prepare, and fill medication orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain and clean infusion pumps and other sterile compounding equipment, ensuring proper calibration and safety.
  • Replenish and maintain Emergency Drug Kits (EDK) for long-term care facilities.
  • Perform shipping and tracking of packages via third-party overnight logistics providers.
  • Support inventory management, filing, answering phones, and stocking areas within the IV department.
  • Collaborate with the Lead IV Technician and Pharmacy Supervisor to maintain a safe, compliant, and organized work environment.
  • Promptly report any operational or compliance concerns related to USP 797 standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Pharmacist, IV Supervisor, or Director of Pharmacy.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Pharmacy Technician license as required by state.
  • 6 months – 1 year of IV Pharmacy Technician experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to operate a computer; recognize and identify medications.
  • Detail oriented; goal oriented, team player, and effective oral communication.

Desired:

  • Long Term Care pharmacy experience.
