Job summary

PharMerica in Worthington, OH is seeking a full-time IV Technician to join our closed-door pharmacy team serving long-term care and senior living clients. This non-retail role focuses on sterile compounding and accurate medication preparation in a Class 100 environment.

You will work Monday–Friday 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with every third weekend on-call and two holidays per year. We offer comprehensive benefits, tuition assistance, 401(k), PTO, DailyPay, and other programs; experience in IV

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Pharmacy Technician license required by state.
• 6 months–1 year IV Pharmacy Technician experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to operate a computer; recognize medications.
• Detail oriented; team player; effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Sterile Compounding Room per USP 797 and state standards.
• Prepare and fill prescriptions for long-term care residents.
• Support QA processes and documentation requirements.
• Assist pharmacists with data entry, refills, and nursing home communication.
• Stage and fill medication orders accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain and calibrate infusion pumps and sterile equipment.
• Manage Emergency Drug Kits for long-term care facilities.
• Handle shipping/tracking of packages via third-party vendors.
• Support inventory, filing, phones, and stocking in IV dept.
• Collaborate with leadership to maintain a safe, compliant environment.
• Report operational or compliance concerns related to USP 797.

As a Pharmacy IV Technician you will:

• Clean, maintain, and monitor the Sterile Compounding Room in accordance with USP 797 and state regulatory standards. Compound sterile preparations, including those from non-sterile powders, within a Class 100 cleanroom environment.
• Prepare and fill prescriptions for long-term care residents and Alere high-risk pregnancy patients, following established policies and quality standards.
• Support quality assurance (QA) processes, ensuring compliance with all compounding and documentation requirements.
• Assist pharmacists with data entry, refill coordination, and communication with nursing homes and Alere clients.
• Stage, prepare, and fill medication orders accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain and clean infusion pumps and other sterile compounding equipment, ensuring proper calibration and safety.
• Replenish and maintain Emergency Drug Kits (EDK) for long-term care facilities.
• Perform shipping and tracking of Alere packages via third-party overnight logistics providers.
• Support inventory management, filing, answering phones, and stocking areas within the IV department.
• Collaborate with the Lead IV Technician and Pharmacy Supervisor to maintain a safe, compliant, and organized work environment.
• Promptly report any operational or compliance concerns related to USP 797 standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Pharmacist, IV Supervisor, or Director of Pharmacy.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Pharmacy Technician license as required by state
• 6 months - 1 year of IV Pharmacy Technician experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to operate a computer; recognize and identify medications.
• Detail oriented; goal oriented, team player, and effective oral communication.

Desired:

• Long Term Care pharmacy experience.
