Job summary

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers in Gilbert, AZ seeks an experienced Pharmacy Technician (Admixture) to join our clinical team. You will prepare and compound medications, including IV admixtures and chemotherapy, review orders, verify insurance approvals, calculate doses, manage inventory, and maintain sterile environments.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of pharmacy experience with sterile compounding, strong aseptic technique, precise math skills, and a commitment to patient safety.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of pharmacy experience including sterile compounding (IV admixture and/or chemotherapy).
• Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and pharmaceutical terminology.
• Solid math and dosage calculation skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
• Ability to interpret prescriptions and follow protocols accurately.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with inventory control, purchasing, and dispensing systems.
• Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and compound medications, including IV admixtures and chemotherapy, under supervision.
• Review medication orders for accuracy, completeness, and authorization.
• Verify insurance approvals before preparing medications.
• Accurately calculate dosages and conversions (metric/apothecary systems).
• Maintain inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications.
• Keep detailed logs (temperature, controlled substances, protocol drugs, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and safety guidelines for medication handling and disposal.
• Clean and maintain sterile compounding environments (hoods, equipment).
• Stay current with new medications and protocols.
• Travel between locations as needed.
