Job description

Ardurra is seeking an Entry level Engineer/EIT to join our Central Region team.

Primary Function

We are looking for a self-motivated candidate responsible for assisting the ITS/Technology Section with the following tasks:

  1. General knowledge of roadway design and safety elements (e.g., roadside design, clear zone, and stopping sight distance).
  2. Familiarity with traffic signal elements and signal timing (e.g., signalized intersection movements, signal operating plans, timing charts).
  3. Support the development of concept plans for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Signalization, and Lighting.
  4. Basic knowledge of Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) and emergent technologies such as Connected Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) initiatives.
  5. Develop plans for signalization and ITS, including component layout, fiber optic communications design, and power connectivity.
  6. Knowledge of network communications (e.g., splicing diagrams, wiring diagrams) is a plus.
  7. Assist with the preparation of lighting plans and perform analysis and calculations using photometric analysis (AGi32 or similar software) for light pole distribution.
  8. Conduct field reviews, existing condition assessments, system inventory, and proposed improvement design development.
  9. Apply engineering design standards during concept and plan preparation.
  10. Civil or Electrical Engineering degree or background will be considered, including traffic studies and traffic signal timing operations.
Education and Experience Requirements
  1. 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  2. Texas EIT preferred.
  3. Experience with MicroStation, ORD (Open Roads Designer), and/or SS10 preferred; AutoCAD experience also considered.
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  5. Experience with AGi32 or similar software.
  6. Ability to multitask and deliver efficient results.
  7. Ability to work in a team environment.
