Job summary

Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking an Intelligent Transportation Systems Program Specialist to lead planning, development, and deployment of multi-modal ITS initiatives.

The role focuses on managing ITS grants, contracts, and budget oversight, coordinating with internal bureaus and external agencies, and guiding funding for statewide ITS projects. A hybrid work schedule is available with 2–5 days in the office weekly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, economics, information technology, public finance, or public administration.
• 3+ years in project planning and programming (or 11+ years).
• Strong Excel and Word skills; ability to present technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains a system to manage ITS grants and budgets.
• Prepares and manages ITS contracts and project applications.
• Leads coordination with federal agencies and internal teams on ITS projects.
• Performs budget analyses and financial oversight for ITS initiatives.
• Provides guidance and training to ensure successful project delivery.
