Job summary

Georgetown County School District seeks an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher (Itinerant/Child Find) to deliver SPED services to preschoolers aged 3-5 in diverse settings. The role supports identification, evaluation, and provision of services, while partnering with families and professionals to implement IEPs and coordinate transitions.

The position requires SC certification in Special Education, a relevant degree, and a collaborative approach to embed strategies within daily routines

Qualifications

• SC Teacher Certification in Special Education as required.
• Degree from an accredited college/university in appropriate field.
• Prior job experience preferred.
• Alternatives to qualifications may be considered by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Provide itinerant SPED services to preschoolers in community/home/private settings.
• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s needs.
• Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate IEP meetings.
• Deliver direct and indirect specialized instruction to support communication, social-emotional, cognitive and motor skills.
• Collaborate with educators, families, and childcare professionals to embed strategies into daily routines.
• Support transitions and monitor progress with data collection.
• Be familiar with SC Early Learning Standards and adapt curriculum as needed.
• Complete initial and exit Child Outcome Summary forms.
• Maintain consistent service schedules and communicate changes as needed.
• Identify and evaluate children aged 3-5 through Child Find processes.
