Job summary

XR Trading offers a paid, year-round internship on-site at our downtown Chicago office. Interns must be US citizens living in the Chicagoland area and able to commute daily to XR Trading Chicago Office: 550 W Jackson Blvd, Suite 1000, Chicago, IL 60661.

Position requires 20–30 hours per week throughout the year. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting PC hardware and operating systems, imaging and deploying workstations, supporting IT projects, writing

• Pursuing a bachelor's in a technical field within commutable distance from Chicago Loop.
• Experience with PC hardware and OS troubleshooting.
• Basic scripting skills in Python or JavaScript.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced agile environment.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot PC hardware and operating systems.
• Assist with building, imaging, and deploying workstations across multiple hardware models.
• Participate in projects to maintain and improve systems and networks.
• Create and maintain standard PC images for multiple workstation models.
• Process, monitor and prioritize trouble tickets.
• Troubleshoot basic TCP/IP issues.
• Assist in managing technology inventory.
• Install and monitor antivirus software.
• Support initiatives as required by the business.
• Write or modify basic scripts to automate simple tasks; learn AI tools.

XR Trading is a proprietary trading firm with employees in the Netherlands, Singapore, UK and US. XR participates in a wide variety of marketplaces including global futures, equities, commodities, options, fixed income, and cryptocurrencies. We are looking for individuals who enjoy working with computers at a hands-on level, including building, configuring, and troubleshooting systems. Candidates who have experience with PC hardware, have built or upgraded their own systems, or enjoy diagnosing technical issues will be a strong fit.

This is a paid, year-round internship based on-site at our downtown Chicago office. Interns must be available to work at least 20 hours per week and no more than 30 hours per week throughout the year. We are not seeking seasonal interns.

Education

Job Function & Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot PC hardware and operating systems
• Assist with building, imaging, and deploying workstations across multiple hardware models
• Actively seek out and participate in projects to maintain and improve the systems/network environment
• Create and maintain standard PC images for multiple workstation models
• Process, monitor and prioritize trouble tickets
• Troubleshoot basic TCP/IP issues
• Assist in managing and maintaining technology inventory
• Install and monitor antivirus software
• Support other key initiatives as the business dictates
• Write or modify basic scripts (Python, JavaScript, or similar) to automate simple tasks where applicable
• Willing to learn and use company approved AI tools to support IT tasks, troubleshoot issues, and improve efficiency

Required Experience & Skills

• Desire to work and learn in a fast-paced agile environment
• Experience working with computer hardware, system setup, and troubleshooting
• Experience with Python, JavaScript, Node.js or other scripting languages (used for basic automation tasks)
• Excellent communication skills
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP)
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• A self-motivated personality
• Curiosity about how systems work end-to-end and willingness to learn by doing

Hourly Rate
