Job description

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.

So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.

The Role

The IT Vendor Management Analyst plays a strategic role in orchestrating and optimizing our extensive network of IT Vendors supporting our Customer Operations organization. This position requires deep expertise in vendor governance, technology infrastructure management, and SaaS operations, with a focus on driving strategic value and innovation through vendor partnerships.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with demonstrated experience managing enterprise-wide vendors and driving organizational change. They should possess a proven track record of managing stakeholder relationships, facilitating cross-functional alignment, and building consensus across diverse business units. This includes the ability to effectively present to and influence senior management while maintaining strong partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Leadership capabilities are essential, as the role involves mentoring junior team members, and providing support to project teams. They should also demonstrate proficient skills in data analysis.

Work from anywhere: This role can be performed from any location in the United States.

You Will
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to onboard, monitor, and offboard vendor relationships.
  • Identify, monitor, escalate areas of vendor non-performance or inaccuracy, ensuring proper documentation and communication of these findings.
  • Contribute to the implementation of vendor performance scorecards to ensure adherence to contractual performance requirements, along with any additional necessary performance related information.
  • Develop dashboards and reports to track vendor performance.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to initiate vendor engagement requests, and provide support throughout vendor security reviews.
  • Monthly review of invoices from tech vendors and approval invoices, which includes documenting actual spend v. planned/budgeted spend.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of procedures and supporting documentation to provide a reference source for vendor management activities.
  • Lead end-to-end contract management processes, including orchestrating complex negotiations, reviewing and approving MSAs and SOWs, and partnering with Legal, Procurement, and business stakeholders to optimize contractual arrangements and ensure alignment with corporate objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Remain current with vendor management regulatory requirements and changes as well as industry best practices that would potentially influence the vendor management program.
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced staff.
  • Understand and adhere to applicable purchasing/compliance/operational procedures and risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Complete other related administrative duties as needed.
You Have
  • 4-6 years of experience working with cross-functional teams, preferably for a tech company
  • 4-6 years of experience reviewing qualitative and quantitative data to creating meaningful performance reports for internal stakeholders
  • 4-6 years in an IT Vendor Management role or similar
  • Prior experience managing performance metrics - including SLA performance analysis
  • Experience managing relationships, and building credibility with internal and external business partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A passion for small businesses and an entrepreneurial mindset, notably someone who is known to innovate, take risks, and make big ideas a tangible reality.
  • Strong leadership skills
