Job summary

The Georgia Department of Transportation seeks an IT Trainer/Content Developer to deliver training on IT applications to staff, both in-person and virtual, and to create and maintain training content. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with GDOT business units and IT teams to identify training needs and increase class enrollments.
• Facilitate vendor or contractor-delivered training sessions as needed.
• Maintain accurate recordkeeping for time, activities, performance indicators, and travel expenses.
• Support IT projects by providing user training during product rollouts and user acceptance testing.
• Communicate proactively with team leaders and management regarding schedules, risks, and travel arrangements.
• Ensure professionalism and effective classroom management to achieve course objectives.

This role involves conducting both in-person and virtual training sessions, developing and maintaining training content, managing training schedules and learner records within the Learning Management System, and collaborating with various business units to meet training needs. The position requires travel within Districts 1 and 2 in Georgia and offers a hybrid work schedule with a fixed 8-hour workday, Monday through Friday.

Required Skills & Certifications

• Minimum 4 years of IT technical training or related experience supporting IT applications and end users.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Office 365 applications (minimum 5 years).
• Strong verbal and written English communication, presentation, and teaching skills (minimum 5 years).
• Bachelor s degree in communications, teaching, IT, or related field; or Associate degree plus IT experience; or IT certifications with relevant experience.
• Ability and flexibility to travel within the State of Georgia for in-person training (minimum 1 year).
• Experience managing training records and learner data within an LMS.
• Valid driver s license and capability to use a personal vehicle for work-related travel.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

• Experience developing role-based end user training content for IT applications (4 years preferred).
• Instructional design skills including storyboarding, visual design, and writing instructional and audio/video scripts (2 years preferred).
• Proficiency with training content development tools such as Adobe Captivate, TechSmith Camtasia, Articulate 360/Storyline (2 years preferred).
• Experience conducting training using Microsoft Teams (1 year preferred).
• Familiarity with Oracle LMS, Cornerstone LMS, and ServiceNow (nice to have).

Special Considerations

• Fixed 8-hour workdays starting no earlier than 8:00 AM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week (no flexible scheduling).
• Hybrid work schedule preferred, combining remote and on-site work; ability to travel to multiple District locations within Georgia.
• Must comply with all State of Georgia and GDOT policies, including telework and travel reimbursement policies.
• Candidate must maintain a personal credit card for expenses; no advance payments provided.
• Physical ability to set up training rooms, transport materials, and manage classroom environments.
• Use of state-provided equipment (cell phone and laptop) in accordance with policies.
• Candidate must not work or make up time during 13 designated state holidays without management approval.
• Contract duration through June 30, 2027, with possible annual renewals; no guaranteed extensions.
• Preference given to candidates residing within the Atlanta Metro area or State of Georgia.
• US citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work authorization preferred.

Scheduling

• Monday through Friday, 8-hour fixed shifts starting no earlier than 8:00 AM Eastern Time.
• Combination of remote and on-site training sessions, with travel to District 1 (Gainesville) and District 2 (Tennille) several times per month.
• First day onboarding is onsite in Atlanta, GA; travel for onboarding not reimbursed.
• Candidate expected to start within 10 business days after selection.
