The Town of Matthews is seeking an experienced IT Operations Technician to support Police Department technology systems and assist other town departments as needed. The role emphasizes continuity, reliability, and security of software platforms, hardware, and vehicle-mounted technology in a public safety environment.
Two years of IT operations experience and a high school diploma are preferred. Candidates must hold or obtain a NC driver's license and complete required security training.
Experienced candidates who are selected will be offered a salary commensurate with experience within the hiring range.
Provides operational, field-level and infrastructure support primarily for the Town’s Police Department’s technology systems, as well as has the flexibility to help other Town departments when needed. This position ensures continuity, reliability, and security of departmental systems including software platforms, workstation hardware, internal camera systems, vehicle-based equipment and network cabling infrastructure. This role will help to reduce operational risk by managing day-to-day technology maintenance while supporting the IT Systems Supervisor. This is a hands-on technical operations role within a public safety environment.

Must be conscious of safety methods to avoid injury to others and themselves; May be subject to hazards in law enforcement work including working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme hot and cold weather, and exposure to various hazards to include but not limited to dangerous persons, heavy traffic, loud noises, and hazardous spills with fumes, oils, gases, and flammable liquids. This position is subject to all State and Federal OSHA regulations, including, but not limited to the following: bloodborne pathogens, hazard communication/GHS, personal protective equipment, slips, trips, and falls, etc.
The Town of Matthews requires background checks to be conducted on the final candidate(s) applying for any position with the Town of Matthews. For this position, final candidates must pass a background process to include but are not limited to work history verification, professional/personal reference checks, social media, financial review, polygraph, pre-employment drug screening and physical, psychological evaluation, criminal background, driving record checks.
