Job summary

Walbridge is seeking an IT Technician to provide hands-on technical support at the project site in Michigan. You will ensure smooth operation of Windows-based systems and hardware while delivering strong customer service to end users.

Key duties include Windows 11 support, hardware deployment, workstation setup for new hires, and assisting with new technology adoptions. Travel may be required and training in Detroit is anticipated.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent plus technical training or experience.
• 3+ years in IT support for Windows environments via remote tools.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows OS.
• Experience documenting all work in ticketing systems.
• Willingness to travel, train in Detroit for 4–6 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Windows 11 Support - Provide Tier 1/2 technical support for Windows 11 systems, including troubleshooting OS issues, performance optimization, and user assistance.
• Hardware & Software Deployment - Stage, configure, and deploy desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices. Install, update, and support standard business applications in accordance with IT policies.
• Onboarding & Workstation Setup - Prepare and provision user workstations for new hires, including account setup, system configuration, and ensuring readiness on day one.
• New Technology Support & Adoption - Support the implementation and adoption of new technologies, including evaluating emerging tools, assisting with pilot deployments, and helping users transition to new systems and solutions.
• Network Support - Assist with basic network setup and troubleshooting, including connectivity issues, VPN access, and wired/wireless network configurations.
• IT Recommendations & Asset Planning - Research and recommend hardware, software, and IT services to improve operational efficiency, performance, and security.
• User Training & Support - Deliver end-user training and guidance on technology tools, systems, and best practices to enhance productivity and reduce support incidents.

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled IT Technician to join the Walbridge team. You will provide hands-on technical support at the job site, ensuring smooth operation of Windows-based systems and hardware. Location

You will work from the project location in Van Buren Township, Michigan.

Preference will be given to candidates currently located in the Van Buren Township area. Candidates residing elsewhere in the contiguous United States must be willing to relocate at their own expense.

Qualifications

• Completed a minimum of high school diploma or equivalent, and technical training or professional experience
• 3 years or more of commercial experience required in an IT support technician role supporting a Windows environment, via telephone and remote support tools
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite and Windows operating system software
• Experience steadfastly documenting all works performed in the ticketing system
• User data transfer to new laptops
• Thorough understanding of hardware technical specifications and general network experience
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and deal with multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability and willingness to learn new skills quickly
• Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds
• Able to frequently work beyond 40 hours per week.
• Able to travel out of state, sometimes with short notice, and stay overnight as needed
• Able to train in Detroit, Michigan for 4-6 weeks
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the Unites States without current for future employment visa sponsorship

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• CompTIA A+ certification
• Networking knowledge, including router/firewall configuration and management
• Direct end-user support experience
