Job summary

Crane Aerospace and Electronics is seeking an IT Systems Engineer II or III to join our Lynnwood, WA or Burbank, CA on-site team. You will design, deploy, and manage compute infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments, focusing on VMware, Nutanix, Azure, and Oracle OCI, with emphasis on uptime, backups, and DR planning.

Responsibilities include patching, troubleshooting, documenting installations, and assisting IT initiatives while ensuring regulatory compliance and security

Qualifications

  • BS degree in computer-oriented technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Experience maintaining compute environments and hypervisors in data center and cloud.
  • Experience with patching, backups, DR, and regulatory compliance (SOX/DFARS/ITAR).

Responsibilities

  • Patch and manage data center and cloud technologies (VMware, Nutanix, Azure, Oracle OCI).
  • Ensure uptime of critical systems and infrastructure with monitoring and remediation.
  • Deploy and manage VMs on-prem and in cloud; document installation procedures.
  • Assist IT initiatives and provide training/documentation to teams.
  • Support disaster recovery planning and testing as needed.

Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a IT Systems Engineer II or III (level will depend on experience) at our Lynnwood, WA OR Burbank, CA l ocation. This is an on-site position.About Crane:Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets. You’ll find Crane Aerospace & Electronics in some of the toughest environments: from engines to landing gear; from satellites to medical implants and from missiles to unmanned aerial systems (UAS).As an IT Systems Engineer (Compute) you will design, develop, support, and maintain our compute infrastructure both on-prem and in the cloud. You will implement and design both hardware and software solutions; make updates to system related installation documentation, and provide escalated support for issues relating to the compute infrastructure.Essential Functions:Responsible for the patching and management of data center and cloud technologies including VMware, Nutanix, Azure, and Oracle OCIEnsure uptime of critical business systems and infrastructure through monitoring and timely remediation of infrastructure issuesDeploy and manage virtual machines both on-prem and in the cloudProvide troubleshooting and recommendations for improvements on existing and new systemsPreserves data assets and ensures back-up procedures meet or exceed our policies Help to implement and provide support for disaster recovery of key systemsAssist other teams with IT initiativesIdentifies issues, evaluates trends, and anticipates requirements Ensures adherence to all regulatory compliance processes and requirements, including but not limited to Sarbanes-Oxley, DFARS, ITAR and like regulationsSupport the monitoring, alerting and automation infrastructure for critical business systems and infrastructureMaintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societiesProvides documentation and training to other team members and IT teamsAny other task assigned by supervisor or managementMinimum Qualifications:Experience:Level II: 2-4+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer in a medium to high volume environment.Level III: 4-7+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer in a medium to high volume environment.Experience in managing and maintaining hypervisor technologies includingNutanix and VMware; Experience in managing and maintaining backup appliances, storage arrays, and server blade systems; Experience deploying and automating virtual machines both on-prem and in cloud infrastructureKnowledge:Understanding of current cloud and on-prem compute technologies, hypervisors, networking, storage, and backupsProficient in supporting and maintaining compute environments to meet best practicesSkills/Abilities:Strong problem solving; Ability to complete job requirements within time constraintsAbility to train new employees to support systems as required; Ability to work effectively in an individual or team environment with occasional directionEducation/Certification:BS degree in computer-oriented technical discipline or equivalent experienceEligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information.
