Job summary

Sequoyah Electric is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to oversee day-to-day technology operations from our Redmond, WA headquarters. The role focuses on delivering a superior end-user experience, maximizing uptime, and driving efficiency through modern IT solutions.

Responsibilities cover admin of Microsoft 365/Entra ID, Intune, backups, security, and BI reporting. This office-based, 7am–4pm role supports Procore/Autodesk/BuildOps stacks and requires 3+ years in IT and a CS/IT degree.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience troubleshooting computer, network, server, and cloud technologies.
  • 3+ years’ experience with LAN/WAN, enterprise network equipment, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Intune, virtualization, Docker, SQL, Postgres, cloud telephony, TCP/IP, DNS, network security, and wireless networking.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environment, including Copilot deployment.
  • Administer and maintain Mobile Device Management through Microsoft Intune.
  • Maintain existing network and computers within all company locations.
  • Maintain patches and security on server and network equipment.
  • Deliver reliable office and job site connectivity, including temporary networks and cellular/Starlink failover.
  • Conduct after-hours upgrades and updates to network infrastructure as necessary.
  • Maintain, verify, and test backups and disaster recovery environment.
  • Build and implement new technologies and solutions.
  • Complete new hardware and software implementations and system upgrades.
  • Assist in the customization and adaptation of existing programs to meet users’ requirements.
  • Automate operations using AI, Powershell, Power Platform, and scripting/APIs.
  • Support the construction technology stack and field devices used on Jobsites.
  • Partner with Process Engineering to deliver reporting and BI (Power BI).
  • Support the cybersecurity program: endpoint protection, security awareness training, and incident response.
  • Support alignment of IT practices to a framework (NIST CSF or CIS Controls) and CIN readiness.
  • Provide 2nd tier support to end-users; assist with overflow 1st tier support.
  • Load appropriate software packages on end-user equipment.
  • Connect users to networks and provide initial training in facilities and applications.
  • Help maintain software and hardware standards.
  • Assist with procurement of standard hardware and software.
  • Help maintain inventory of computers, hardware, and software.
  • Administer the SaaS portfolio and software licensing, and coordinate with vendors.
  • Document and maintain IT operational procedures.

Overview

The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operation of technology across the company. The role’s primary responsibility is providing an excellent experience for our end users and maximizing our uptime. In addition, the role is responsible for identifying opportunities to enhance the performance and efficiency of the business through technology and helping manage information security risk.

This position reports to our Chief Information officer. It is based out of our Redmond, WA headquarters and is a fully in-office role. Work hours for this position will be 7am-4pm.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environment, including Copilot deployment

  • Support the cybersecurity program: endpoint protection, security awareness training, and incident response

  • Support alignment of IT practices to a recognized framework (NIST CSF or CIS Controls) and CMMC readiness if pursuing federal work.

  • Provide 2nd tier phone, in-person and online support to end-users, as well as assisting with overflow 1st tier support

  • Load appropriate software packages on end-user equipment.

  • Connect users to networks and provide initial training in facilities and applications.

  • Help maintain software and hardware standards.

  • Assist with procurement of standard hardware and software.

  • Help maintain inventory of computers, hardware, and software.

  • Administer the SaaS portfolio and software licensing, and coordinate with vendors on technical issues

  • Document and maintain IT operational procedures.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience troubleshooting computer, network, server, and cloud technologies.
  • 3+ years’ experience with LAN/WAN, enterprise network equipment, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Intune, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V/Azure), Docker, SQL, Postgres, cloud telephony (Teams Phone or equivalent), TCP/IP, DNS, network security, and wireless networking.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology or equivalent experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive information technology skills and knowledge of the field.
  • Strong ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems.
  • Working proficiency in PowerShell, SQL, and API/integration concepts.
