Job summary

About the Role

In order to achieve its ambition of serving 80,000-100,000 Fellows over the next decade, Braven is hiring an IT Systems Engineer who will own the administration of Braven’s core collaboration and productivity platforms and drive the automation that removes friction from internal team workflows. As a member of the IT team, you will administer tools like Jira Service Management, Slack, and Zoom, and partner closely with the IT Systems Architect on infrastructure-level decisions while independently owning the collaboration tooling and automation layer.

This role is on the IT team and reports directly to the Head of Workplace Technology & Operations.

What You’ll Do

Collaboration Tools Administration (35%)

  • Administer Jira Service Management, including projects, workflows, request types, and automation rules
  • Administer Slack and Zoom at an organizational level, including app/integration management and provisioning

Workflow Automation & Process Improvement (30%)

  • Identify manual, repetitive, or inefficient internal workflows and design automated solutions (e.g., Jira automation rules, Okta Workflows, scripting)
  • Partner with team leads across the org to translate workflow pain points into automated technical solutions

Support & Documentation (20%)

  • Provide tier 2/3 support for issues escalated from the helpdesk queue related to collaboration platforms
  • Develop and maintain documentation for tool configurations, workflows, and automations

Cross-Functional Technical Partnership (15%)

  • Collaborate with the IT Systems Architect on infrastructure and architecture-level decisions that intersect with collaboration tooling
  • Coordinate with software vendors to implement new features and evaluate new tools
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • At least 3 years of IT experience, including 1-2 years administering SaaS collaboration platforms (e.g., Jira, Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, or similar)
  • Demonstrated experience designing and building automations or scripted workflows (e.g., Jira automation, Okta Workflows, PowerShell, Python)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency administering Atlassian Jira/Jira Service Management, including workflow and automation rule design
  • Experience administering Slack at an organizational level (admin console, app management, integrations)
  • Experience administering Zoom at an organizational level
  • Experience with single sign-on and identity administration (e.g., Okta)
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python, JavaScript)
  • Track record of identifying and solving internal workflow inefficiencies through technology
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on detail and accuracy
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders with different technical backgrounds
  • Exemplification of Braven’s core values.

Work Demands
  • Ability to work in-person in Chicago (IL) or New York (NYC) 3 days per week, with occasional need to provide onsite support in the New York office

Compensation and Benefits

Braven offers competitive base salaries based on the midpoint of the market among not-for-profit organizations of similar size, with opportunities for salary growth over time. We believe in compensating staff members fairly in relation to each other, their qualifications, and their impact on behalf of the organization, and take internal and external equity seriously. Given our commitment to equity, Braven does not negotiate salary offers; instead, each salary offer is determined carefully using external and internal benchmarking.

Starting salary within the range is determined by role scope and qualifications, with new hires starting at the lower end to allow for growth with performance. Braven does not base compensation on individual candidate salary expectations and is committed to maintaining internal equity. The salary ranges, by geographic market, for this role are set forth $83,600-$104,400 for New York City and $76,000-$94,900 for Chicago. This is based on a 50-hour work week. This is a full-time, regular, exempt, and benefits eligible position where you will be working at 100% capacity.

Location

We gather in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) and work remotely 2 days a week (Monday and Friday). Therefore, this role requires teammates to live within commuting distance of our Chicago, Newark, or New York City hub.
