Description
The IT Systems and Infrastructure Lead will provide day-to-day IT support for users, devices, networks, servers, applications, and plant technology across multiple industrial facilities. This position will focus on supporting IT infrastructure within plant environments while also providing basic troubleshooting and connectivity support for industrial automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and related equipment.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on IT experience with a focus on industrial or manufacturing environments. The candidate must be comfortable working on the plant floor, troubleshooting IT and network issues around industrial equipment, and traveling to multiple company facilities. Basic PLC knowledge is required, including an understanding of how PLCs communicate with HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial networks. This role will work closely with controls engineers, maintenance teams, and plant personnel when advanced automation support is needed.
Responsibilities:
IT Systems, Project Management and Support:
- Lead and support IT projects, system upgrades, and technology deployments across multiple facilities.
- Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot computer systems, servers, network devices, virtualization, hardware, and software.
- Provide hands-on IT support within industrial and manufacturing environments.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues and document problems and resolutions.
- Install and upgrade computer hardware, software, and network equipment.
- Monitor system performance and maintain reliable IT operations.
- Provide technical documentation and specifications for IT infrastructure projects.
- Support data backups, disaster recovery, and system recovery processes.
Industrial IT, Network and Security:
- Maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure within office, warehouse, and industrial plant environments.
- Support reliable and secure communication between IT systems and industrial equipment.
- Provide first-level troubleshooting for PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, industrial PCs, and related equipment.
- Understand basic PLC operation and how PLCs communicate across industrial networks.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues between plant equipment and IT infrastructure.
- Coordinate with controls engineers, vendors, maintenance, and plant personnel when specialized controls support is required.
- Support cybersecurity and secure access within industrial IT environments.
System Troubleshooting and Optimization:
- Troubleshoot IT and plant technology issues to minimize business and production downtime.
- Identify and resolve recurring IT, network, and connectivity issues.
- Assist with root-cause analysis and system improvements.
- Maintain accurate system configurations, technical documentation, and troubleshooting procedures.
Training and Development:
- Provide technical assistance and training to employees and plant personnel.
- Stay current with IT infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and industrial technology.
- Perform other related duties as needed or assigned.
Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in IT systems administration, IT infrastructure, technical support, industrial IT, or a related field.
- Hands-on IT experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or plant environment required.
- Experience supporting IT infrastructure, networks, servers, virtualization, hardware, software, and system maintenance.
- Experience working directly in multiple industrial or manufacturing facilities preferred.
- Basic PLC knowledge and experience working around PLC-controlled equipment required.
- Basic understanding of HMI, SCADA, industrial networks, and plant-floor technology.
- Experience with cybersecurity, backups, disaster recovery, and system security preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel between company facilities as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Employee is required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Travel will be required to visit company locations across multiple states.
- Travel by car and airplane will be required.
Working Conditions:
- This position works in both office and industrial/plant environments.
- The employee will regularly work on the plant floor and around manufacturing equipment and production operations.
- Safety glasses and closed-toe shoes are required when in the plant or warehouse.
- The noise level may vary from moderate in office areas to elevated in manufacturing areas.
