Billings, Montana office is currently seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator - Applications.

Position Summary

The IT Systems Administrator - Applications is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of the Firm’s business‑critical applications used by Firm members in their day‑to‑day work. This role ensures that applications are reliable, current, secure, and aligned with Firm needs by managing deployments, updates, integrations, and ongoing support. This position focuses on application ownership, working in close coordination with other System Administrators and IT Support to ensure applications operate effectively within the Firm’s technology environment. This position is 100% in-office in our Billings, MT Office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Application Administration & Lifecycle Management – Deploy, configure, maintain, and support Firm-facing applications across the environment. Ensure applications remain stable, high-performing, and aligned with vendor-supported versions and Firm standards.
  • Application Patching & Updates – Plan, test, and execute application updates and patches. Maintain a regular cadence for application updates and patching, coordinating with System Administrators to ensure compatibility with underlying systems.
  • Vendor & Platform Ownership – Maintain working knowledge of assigned applications, including release cycles, feature updates, licensing, and known issues. Engage with vendors as needed for support, escalation, and roadmap awareness.
  • Escalation Support & Troubleshooting – Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 escalation support for application-related issues. Troubleshoot complex problems, identify root causes, and coordinate resolution across IT teams as required.
  • Integration & Dependency Coordination – Work with System Administrators to ensure applications are properly integrated with core services such as identity, storage, and network resources. Define requirements and participate in implementation of supporting systems.
  • Vulnerability Remediation – Identify, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities within the Firm’s systems, including applications, operating systems, and infrastructure equipment – work with appropriate System administrators to resolve vulnerabilities within the Firm’s technical environment.
  • Automation & Deployment Efficiency – Develop and maintain deployment methods using endpoint management and scripting tools (e.g., Intune, PowerShell) to standardize application delivery and reduce manual effort.
  • Documentation & Change Management – Create and maintain documentation for application configurations, deployment procedures, and support processes. Follow established change management practices for all production updates.
  • Ethical Responsibilities
    • Maintains the highest level of integrity when using privileged system access; ensures actions are documented, authorized, and aligned with Firm security standards.
    • Commits to accuracy and completeness in system configurations, logs, and reporting; avoids any manipulation or falsification of technical data.
    • Uses system monitoring and user activity tools only for legitimate business purposes; respects privacy boundaries and adheres to Firm confidentiality standards.
    • Follows approved change management processes for all system modifications; documents rationale and avoids unauthorized or "shadow" changes to production environments.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years of related experience in an IT environment, with demonstrated experience in application administration or systems support.
  • A combination of experience, education, and certifications to demonstrate proficiency in application management, system interactions, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Windows Operating Systems, Adobe, and other similar technologies.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be a self‑starter, capable of independently learning new systems.
  • Available to work overtime as needed and approved by supervisor.
  • Available to travel as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
